First aid is 1 of the main skill that you should pick up if you want to be able to survive, after all most disaster will cause injuries and it also make you become an asset to anyone who require your service.
So what to learn? The most common course that are available to the public is:
Standard First Aid
CPR+AED
Basic Cardiac Life Support
Standard First Aid (SFA)
This course teach you everything about how to help someone (or even yourself) when they're injured. From neuro to cardiac to pulse and respiratory to bites and stings and even our bones and muscle and many types of injuries.
CPR+AED
Heart attack and Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone anywhere and a person have only few minutes before their brain sustain irreversible damage. The best way to convert heart attack (Ventricular Fibrillation) back to normal heartbeat is thru the use of AED and quality CPR. This course also emphasized on the safety of the rescuer and casualty.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
This course include Conscious Choking, Unconscious Choking and CPR+AED for both adult and infant. Good to learn if you have a newborn or if you're around friends who always choke.
Regardless which course you're interested in, you're arming yourself a life saving skill that'll make you a better person and a more competence survivalist.
